Remnant of Ruusan
The Remnant
The Zakuulan incursion left the Jedi Order scattered. Fractured and broken, Jedi spread across the galaxy to ancient Jedi worlds: Ossus, Jedha, Tython, and, of course, Ruusan. Nearly two hundred Jedi made the journey to Ruusan, accompanied by the 27th Republic Security Force. Their pilgrimage was dubbed "The Conclave."
The Conclave chose not to sit idly by as some gatherings of Jedi did. Rather, they used Ruusan as a base of operations to strike out at the Zakuulan oppressors. It was all they could do to protect the weak, the innocent, those who the Republic had been meant to keep safe.
The Conclave's guerrilla war could not last forever. Two years into the conflict, Zakuul retaliated; the home the Conclave had built on Ruusan was devastated. There was little to be done against Zakuul's naval superiority but cower and seek shelter underground.
After the dust settled and the Zakuulan fleet went elsewhere, only thirty Jedi yet remained, and roughly one hundred brave soldiers of the 27th R.S.F. Those that remained could no longer continue the fight. Instead, they could only hope that - one day - the Order might be restored.
Those who remained immediately convened to choose a path forward, and new leadership. Several vied for the position of leader, especially those who had shown great courage in the fight against Zakuul.
Among the many the survivors debated, one Jedi rose to the top: Master Vina Coride, a young woman who made her mark remaining with citizens during the incursion, rather than fighting. The decision was not unanimous, but she was elected to lead the survivors, and given the title of Librarian.
Master Coride made several key decisions in the early days. First, she determined that those of the Conclave should never part from the Order. Whenever the Jedi return, they will stand with them. Secondly - and equally as important - she began the construction of a temple, to mark the hallowed grounds where so many of her comrades fell, and to serve as a future for the Order.
Several years later, after construction of the temple was complete, the Zakuulan Empire collapsed. The Republic pledged to support the Empire once more. And republic ships entered the Ruusan system for the first time in nearly a decade.
The Remnant of Ruusan had hoped to enter a new era of peace and stability. However, even with Republic support, the Jedi Order remains fractured, and war looms over the galaxy once more.
With the state of the Galaxy in mind, the Remnant has a new direction. Until the Order can be reunited, Master Coride will do whatever she can to prepare the next generation of Jedi. The temple, and Ruusan itself, will stand open for years to come. For now, the system is at peace...
The 27th Republic Security Force, or R.S.F., departed with the Jedi pilgrims en route to Ruusan. They have stood by the Jedi's side - valiantly - ever since. The men and women of the R.S.F. have shown great courage in protecting their Jedi charges, and the innocents conquered by Zakuul. Where nearly five hundred departed, less than one hundred still stood by the time Republic ships re-entered the Ruusan system and the Zakuulan Empire collapsed.
Of the 27th's Command Staff, only Major Marxson survived to relief. A grizzled veteran of the elite task-force Republic Special Services, he had hoped his posting with the R.S.F. would allow him to do good while avoiding the worst of the war. He was mistaken - but fought valiantly nonetheless. Major Marxson has since been reassigned and relieved of duty, and the 27th is awaiting new leadership.
The 27th is now gaining much-needed reinforcements. However, with the Republic mired in war against the Sith Empire, security forces for a far-off system are low priority. New blood trickles in, and the Remnant has resorted to recruiting their own forces with Republic permission. Anyone who can hold a blaster is in need.
What follows is a handful of events occurring in the Ruusan system in the past few weeks. This feed is regularly updated.
In recent days, a badly-damaged Thranta-class Corvette has drifted into the Ruusan system. All attempts to contact the ship have been met with no response; its engines are dead, and seems to be a ghost ship. Preliminary scans suggest the ship is named the Providence of Ossus.
Roughly a month ago, four Jedi - led by Master Korrel Fhas - departed for an expedition into ruins located in the Hingan Valley. Recently, Master Korrel Fhas returned alone. He was badly wounded and starving. He collapsed upon his return to the temple, and died shortly thereafter. No information could be gained before his unfortunate death. Master Coride has forbidden all travel to the Hingan Valley for the time being.
Rumors abound that the Imperial XIV Fleet has entered the Taraab Sector. Though this does not immediately put Ruusan on high-alert, members of the Remnant must be more cautious so as not to attract Imperial attention. The Fleets commander, Admiral Khaiden - responsible for the razing of Denaab - is suspected to be tasked with hunting down Jedi colonies.
With the Galactic Senate in session, the issue of support to Jedi Colonies is certainly on the table. Although Ruusan currently has no representation, Master Coride has expressed her desire to be heard by the Senate. Time will tell if their audience is granted.
To begin with, I just want to thank you for checking out our carrd.co! It's a nifty little site, and one I'm eager to try to use to enhance our roleplay and outreach. That said, it is a work-in-progress, and any feedback would be appreciated.
With that out of the way:
Remnant of Ruusan (RoR) is a heavy RP Guild on the Star Forge server. We're currently accepting core Jedi RPers (We have wiggle room, but are primarily Code-following Jedi.) and soldiers to make up our non-Force Users.
While we offer a Master/Padawan system, our focus is not on gamifying or over-systematizing growth. The Master/Padawan journey is fun because of the story that it tells, and so RoR's primary purpose is not to serve as an academy. We're a platform to pair Masters and Padawans together, but our primary focus as a guild is to tell a story. As such, much more effort is put into the narrative, plot hooks, and character growth, over offering classes and an academy experience.
Our narrative will also be centered on the Ruusan system. Our leadership is lore-abiding, but Ruusan has plenty of room for creativity in this era, allowing us to really hone in on, and develop, a single system (namely, a planet and three moons) over a galaxy-spanning affair. That said, we will frequently use world RP -- I hate being cooped up in a stronghold 24/7 -- operations zones, and flashpoint zones, all retooled to represent Ruusan.
Remnant of Ruusan has a zero-tolerance policy for bigotry, and is supportive of all LGBTQ+ individuals.
